Here you'll find answers to some frequently asked
questions. If you can't find the information you need, e-mail us
at support@isoph.com. We'll
respond as quickly as possible.
What type of computer do I need to access
the courses online?
Courses are designed to run on just about any computer
with a Web-browser, but we make the following recommendations to
help ensure the best possible experience:
- Processor minimum: 66MHz 486 with at least 8MB
RAM (16MB recommended)
- Monitor: 640 x 480 256-color video (800 x 600 recommended)
- Operating system: Windows 95, 98, NT, and 2000.
Windows 95 or higher is recommended for students and administrators.
(Windows 3.1 can be used to view the courses but is not recommended
or supported by Isoph.)
- Browser: Netscape Navigator 4.0 or Internet Explorer
4.0 browser or higher
Is high-speed Internet access a requirement?
No. Our courses are designed to be fully accessible
over dial-up connections with speeds as low as 28.8k.
Do I need special software or plug-ins?
All you need is Netscape Navigator 4.0 or Internet
Explorer 4.0 browser or higher.
Isoph courses are developed in HTML format, meaning
they are built to run on the Web. JavaScript is incorporated into
certain course elements, such as the sign-on page, completion certificates,
the navigate button, and the pop-up master topics/index window.
Each page is a separate file, only slightly larger than an average
e-mail, to ensure a fast response. Our efficient design means you
eliminate the need to download course modules or to install a proprietary
player.
No downloading of special software or proprietary
players or courses is required. An Authorware Web Player version
4.0.3F1 (previously known as Shockwave) plug-in is used for course
simulations, but is not required to take a course. It can easily
be downloaded and installed from the Isoph Web site the first time
you take a course by following the instructions on the Web page.
What if I stop in the middle of a course and
want to pick back up in the same place later?
No problem. The Isoph learning management system saves
your place for you through a special tracking system. The next time
you log into the course, you will be able to continue from exactly
where you left off. You can also use the "navigate" function
to access the index and topics menus for the course.
I'm new to e-learning. Is there anything special
I should know?
If you are comfortable with surfing the Web and are
ready to learn new things, then you know just about all you need
to. If you want more background on e-learning in general and how
you might best approach your learning experience, we recommend you
read the Isoph
E-learning Primer* before beginning your first course.
