Press Release

Isoph Part of 14th Annual President's Seminar at American Library Association Conference

Chapel Hill, NC (December 12, 2003) - Isoph CEO Jeff Cobb will be one of a select group of representatives from the e-learning and digital content management industries speaking as part of a panel at the upcoming America Library Association (ALA) Midwinter conference in San Diego. The panel, hosted by RMG Consultants, is designed to address a variety of issues libraries face in managing digital content that has been created to support learning environments in K-12 and higher education institutions.

The panel will be asked to address a number of topics important for libraries and their users in today's Web-based information and learning environments, including:

  • Should libraries even consider creating digital content? If so, what kinds?
  • What systems and services for content production and management should libraries use?
  • What kinds of solutions should libraries provide for their users to access content and learning services in library and learning environments?
  • How should integrated library systems, learning management systems, content management systems, and resource discovery portals relate?
  • What standards for the new library and learning environments should libraries seek and support?

“This is a unique opportunity to focus on the ways in which learning technologies impact libraries, one of our society’s most important resources,” said Cobb. “We’re honored to be participants in this discussion.” Other industry representatives on the panel include:

  • Jack Blount, president and CEO, Dynix, Inc.
  • Vinod Chachra, CEO and chairman, VTLS Inc.
  • Roland Dietz, president and CEO, Endeavor Information Systems Inc.
  • Steve Forth, CTO and founder, Recombo, Inc.
  • Greg Ritter, business development manager, Blackboard, Inc.
  • Pat Sommers, CEO, Sirsi Corp.
  • Ed Walker, CEO, IMS Global Learning Consortium, Inc.
  • Bob Walton, chairman, Ex Libris USA, Inc.

The panel will convene on Friday, January 9, 2004, from 2 to 5 pm at the American Library Association Midwinter Conference, San Diego Convention Center, San Diego, California.
