Blue is a Web-based application developed in Microsofts .NET
Framework. It provides a highly extensible environment that can
take full advantage of XML for data exchange and modular XML Web
services--features that greatly increase the potential for cost-effective
enhancements to the learning center and integration with legacy
systems used for activities such as donor, fundraising, and member
management. At its core is a sophisticated SQL database that provides
a platform for a wide range of functionalities developed in ASP.NET.
Isoph Blue is generally offered on an application service provider
(ASP) basis, meaning our fees take into account not only licensing
and purchase costs but also ongoing costs for hosting, maintaining,
and supporting the application. You don't need to purchase additional
servers or hardware or set aside additional staff time to maintain
the software. Our application is managed through a browser-based
administrative panel, so the software, hardware, and IT staffing
requirements to use Isoph Blue are minimal. End users access the
Isoph Blue learning environment from a standard Web browser.
Isoph Blue Web Services
Using Web services, Isoph clients can access much of the functionality
of the Isoph Blue application while controlling the presentation
of these functionalities in a Web environment of their choosing.
Examples of why a client may use Web services include:
- To pull course catalog listings, enrollment, and assessment
functionality into an existing Web site or portal application
Isoph Blue Web services enable you to present a catalog of courses, complete
course enrollment transactions, and offer a personalized menu
of courses and assessments to each user--in your existing Web
site or portal. While controlling the flow of data and the presentation
of interactive screen elements, client administrators continue
to have full access to the Isoph Blue administrative panel,
where they can author content and manage aspects of the user
experience. Client example: WebJunction.org
- To enable single sign-in for an existing password-protected
intranet, extranet, or Web site and the Isoph Blue portal environment
Users who register and log in at a clients intranet or extranet site
are automatically recognized and authenticated when they click
through to the clients Isoph Blue learning portal. Client
example: Planned Parenthood Federation of America
Isoph makes it Web services information available so clients can
easily access the correct methods for portal and application integration.
A comprehensive
list of general Web services methods and descriptions is publicly
available, and the secure
Web services methods can be reached only through a secure sockets
layer (SSL). The WSDL for general
Web services and secure
Web services can be generated by going to the appropriate link
and saving the files.
Access to Isoph Web services extends your access to Isoph Blue
features. It also facilitates automatic server-to-server communications
and data transfer between your servers and the Isoph Blue server.
Isoph Web services are compliant with simple object access protocol
(SOAP) 1.2 standards, and Isoph Blue is a Microsoft .NET Connected
application.
Data Reporting and Export
Isoph's clients own all their content and data either developed
in or uploaded into the Isoph Blue system. Your data can be easily
exported from the Isoph Blue system. HTML and other content files
can be downloaded via FTP. Isoph's clients also control the type
and amount of registration data that is collected from their users.
Standard reports include site usage, course activity, survey and
assessment reports, and learner progress and can be run at any time
from the Isoph Blue administrative panel. The Isoph Blue reporting
function is powered by Crystal Reports, enabling Isoph to configure
custom reports as needed.
In addition, Isoph can export data in a wide range of formats to
meet your requirements. We can transform the data from our database
to fit the needs of the destination database and then have it delivered,
or published, on a set schedule. Isoph Blue supports XML, as well
as tab- or comma-delimited files. Examples of supported formats
include:
- Flat files: comma- or tab-delimited, Excel, and Access
- Databases: AS/400, Visual Foxpro, Paradox, Oracle, and dBase
- Any database supporting OLE DB
- XML
